Press Report for Lymm Youth and Community Centre

Posted by Matthew on Wednesday, 28 July 2010, at 19:37

Last Chance to Have Your Say

Over the past couple of months, Lymm Youth and Community Centre have been conducting a survey about our community and youth facilities. They will be publishing the full results in the next month, so if you haven’t yet completed the survey, this is your last chance to have your say.

There has been a fantastic response so far and the committee would like to thank everyone for their time and support. Almost everyone surveyed would like to see community facilities improved or maintained in the village and with over 85% of people surveyed agreeing that Lymm would benefit from a revitalised youth club, it is clear there is a demand for the centre. Over 80% of people think it would be a mistake if the site, along with the neighbouring car parks, was sold for redevelopment.

Great suggestions for improvements

There have been some great suggestions for improvements or new activities and facilities that could be offered at the centre, which the committee hope to act upon. It seems that many people are keen to get involved with their community or are interested in new activities at the centre, so we are calling upon you to make it happen. Lymm Youth & Community Association is always looking for people who would like to help out at the centre, in whatever capacity. For more information, please contact the secretary, Neville Davies on 01925 755757.

Voice your opinion in the Survey

If you would like to add your voice to the results, then you don’t have long left to complete the survey. Copies are available at Lymm Youth & Community Centre and a number of local businesses. Alternatively, complete the survey online at Lymm Youth Survey or print a copy of Lymm Youth Survey.

Getting To Know You afternoon at SPAR

Posted by Matthew on Monday, 28 June 2010, at 14:50

Being part of the community

On Tuesday 22nd June the SPAR store hosted a gathering, welcoming locals to come along and have a chat about what they want, need and like from their neighbourhood store. Attendees included Steve Griffiths, Chairman of the Youth and Community Committee; Joy Parkinson, Chairman of the Lymm Playgroup and Pam Hunter, Chairman of the Parish Council. This gave residents a unique opportunity to meet and speak to leaders of the community about the issues they feel passionately about.

SPAR announced that they are keen to work with the public to help with local fundraising activities, including helping to publicise and support community events or initiatives through its notice boards and business network within the area, or by actively getting involved. This includes fundraising for charitable causes, which the store is dedicated to supporting.

Support for St Roccos, Lymm Youth and Community Centre and Lymm Playgroup

In addition to raising funds for NSPCC, SPAR’s official charity, staff at the Lymm store have identified a local cause to support – St. Rocco’s Hospice. Collections were made on the day for St Roccos and members of the public were invited to think of additional initiatives to increase donations.

In addition to this SPAR generously donated a case of Tea, a case of Coffee and a case of Sugar to the Youth and Community Centre in support the Monthly Tea Dances for the elderly of Lymm. Finally they donated a prize for the Lymm Playgroup fundraising ball to be held on 3rd July in Lymm.

Point of Contact

Christine, who has kindly taken on the role of ‘community champion’ here in Lymm and will, alongside Richard Shaw (Store Manager), be your point of contact for community events and activities.

Lymm Youth and Community Centre Survey

Posted by Matthew on Tuesday, 1 June 2010, at 13:06

Help us identify key areas for improvement

Lymm Youth and Community Association are currently conducting a survey about our community and they need your support. Pick up a copy at the centre, local shops or complete the survey online: Lymm Youth Club website.

The association aims to secure the future of Lymm Youth & Community Centre, providing and developing youth and community facilities for the people of Lymm, within the heart of the village centre. Warrington Borough Council refuses to accept that there is enough demand for these facilities and we are sure that this survey will demonstrate the need.

We are keen to ensure our community caters for all and we hope that this survey will help us identify key areas for improvement. We value your thoughts, ideas and suggestions and appreciate you giving us your time and support. Your views will help us make Lymm Youth and Community Centre work for you.

Collect a survey or complete online

Copies will be available at Lymm Youth & Community Centre and a number of local businesses, including Burnetts Premier Stores, Rushgreen Garage and Statham McColls and you can drop your completed survey in at any of these locations. Alternatively, you can complete the survey online.

It should only take a few minutes to complete and your responses could make a massive difference to the future of the centre. If you provide your contact details, we will enter you into our prize draw to win a bottle of bubbly or a box of chocolates.

If you would like to know more, please contact our secretary, Neville Davies on 01925 755757.
