An update on the dates and closures to be expected in the next 6 weeks

Following on from our recent article on roadworks in Lymm as of Friday 7th May, the road will be closed from the Spread Eagle up to Boots the chemist for several weeks. During this time there will be a new gas main installed and the road surface will be re-cobbled. This closure is to be expected to last for 6 weeks. Businesses will be open as usual and the old diversion route will be set in place.

An update on the dates and closures to be expected for the next 6 weeks

Road Works in Lymm

Further to our page regarding the ongoing roadworks in Lymm Village, we have a brief update.

The current road works in the village centre will come to a close between Friday 12th and Monday 15th March. All work will then be suspended until after the weekend of Lymm Duck Race (Monday 5th April).

Further information about the Lymm Duck Race.

Let the work commence

The road works will then recommence on Monday 12th April for a further six weeks approximately. Rather than close the roads, a two-way traffic light system will be used for the majority of this period. However, anticipate the roads to be closed for approximately two to three weeks during the six week period, whilst the insertion of the main gas pipe is conducted.

Message from the National Grid

Posted by Matthew on Tuesday, 9 February 2010, at 11:33

Amendment to Programme

The below information is in regards to the roadworks in the Village:

National Grid

Due to unforeseen engineering difficulties encountered on phase 2 of our works, it is necessary to temporarily suspend work on The Cross from Wednesday 10th February.

Work will move onto Phase 3 (New Road): A shuttle bus service will be in operation throughout this phase.

Once Phase 3 is complete, work will re-commence on “The Cross” utilising different pipe laying techniques to originally planned. It is anticipated this will reduce the length of time to undertake the work from 12 weeks originally planned.

Lymm Duck Race

All work will be suspended on the weekend of this event.

Car Collision

Driver appeals for information

On Saturday night (6/02/2010) at about 6.45pm a silver Audi TT was in traffic at junction 7 west bound on the M56, coming up to the slip road, when a car collided and drove off.

Can you help?

The owner of the Audi TT said:

  • "As he was going so fast I could only give a small part of registration and rough description of the vehicle to police so I can't trace the driver. There's damage down the driver’s side of car and the wing mirror is smashed. If the car had collided from behind it could have been fatal for the dogs that were in the boot (hatch) of car".

The car in question was pale green, possibly ford, hatchback or estate, first part of registration was M56 or MS6 and there is a 0 or o in the rest of the number plate.

If you have any information in relation to this incident please contact Bev on 07970 772994.
