Cotebrook House Open Day

Formal Opening of the newly developed Music Room by Lymm Round Table

Beginning at 11am, The Open Day at Cotebrook House started off with a selection of stalls featuring books, clothing, crafts and gifts, along with a wonderful array of homemade cakes and coffee.

The event of the morning had to be the opening of the newly established Music Room by Mr Raymond Chan from Lymm Round Table. Thanks to all the generous donations that the centre receives, it has been made possible for them to convert one of the bathrooms into what will now be used as a musical room for the residents. Pupils from Lymm High School helped refurbish the room and the residents currently have access to five instruments which have all been kindly donated (more donated instruments gladly welcome please!). Cotebrook House would also like to thank Lymm Round Table for all their support in setting up the special room. The centre is now well on course to improve their musical talents!

A Cotebrook Album in the pipeline?...

With the help of the centre’s Music Tutor Sam Fletcher, Cotebrook House are looking to hopefully develop their own album featuring a selection of track performed by the residents. Sam currently has three pupils in which he is teaching the guitar, piano or keys but they are looking for more people to get involved and help develop the album. If you’re interested in getting involved, be it to express you musical talents or maybe you are able to donate an instrument, then please don’t hesitate to contact Sammy at the centre on 01925 752583.

The Entertainment continues

With the stalls and tours ongoing throughout the day the event also included a special feast of chilli, hot dogs and baked potatoes along with an afternoon Quiz and Raffle. And finally, the Live Music entertainment by local singer Dave G Hollington provided a fantastic close to the day. Performing a great selection of Blues tracks, he had the residents and guests up singing, dancing and thoroughly enjoying the show. You can also catch Dave performing every Thursday evening at ‘HOME’ bar and restaurant along Lymm Road.

Once again, thank you to all those who contributed the Cotebrook House Open Day and for all the generous donations.

Official opening of long awaited outdoor play area

Posted by Matthew on Tuesday, 9 March 2010, at 13:19

Press Release

Lymm Village Hall Playgroup

Lymm Village Hall Playgroup will be officially unveiling its outdoor play area at its premises in Pepper Street, Lymm, next week. The playgroup, which has been resident in Lymm for 37 years, is using the paved area at the front of the Village Hall to create the play area using temporary fencing that can be erected and dismantled as and when needed.

Rangers Captain and Scotland International footballer David Weir will be officially opening the outdoor play area on Monday 15th March at 1.30 pm.

It will be lovely to see all the children playing outside

Work is beginning on the fence this week so the children will be able to take advantage of this current wave of spring-like weather. “It will be lovely to see all the children playing outside when it’s a nice sunny day”, said Lymm Village Hall Playgroup chairman Joy Parkinson. The fenced off area will enable the children to play outdoors safely. “Up until now any trips out of the Village Hall had to be carefully planned, with only two children being allowed out with an adult at any one time. This new outdoor area will be a huge benefit to both staff and children”, she added.

Warrington Borough Council has provided the funding for the fencing and the shed to store it in once dismantled.
