Google Street View zooms in on Lymm!

Posted by Neil on Thursday, 11 March 2010, at 14:56

View Lymm at street level

Google has expanded its Street View feature to cover 96% of the roads in the UK. From today, British users of the virtual mapping service will be able to view 360 degree images of 238,000 miles of public road and thoroughfares, from Cornwall to the Shetlands.

Integration with Lymm.com

We have already integrated this feature into Lymm.com! You can see it in action when viewing the following sections:

How it works

St Wilfrids Church in Grappenhall is a great example of this new functionality in action. When viewing a map, simply look underneath to see the Street View. You can navigate by double clicking, or clicking and dragging on the Street View. Alternatively click once the map above to move to a new location - all the roads in blue are covered by Google Street View.

Official Lymm.com Launch

Posted by Neil on Saturday, 13 February 2010, at 12:09

Lymm.com was officially launched on Friday, 12th February 2010

Although Lymm.com has been "online" for a couple of weeks, we haven't officially told anyone. If you're reading this you must've had insider information - well done!

The real reason

Actually, the reason we officially launched on the 12th of February was to give us one final chance to iron out any minor technical issues and double check all our content. These tasks are almost complete, so we felt it was a good time to let a wider audience know about Lymm.com.

Lymm.com in Lymm Life

The next edition of Lymm Life features an editorial about Lymm.com! As always, let us know what you think of the site and what changes and/or enhancements you'd like to see - we're ready and waiting to help.

Laura, Neil and Matt

Photographic competition

Don't forget to enter the first ever Lymm.com Photographic Competition for a chance to win £100 of Jessops vouchers!

How to enter

Free Wi-Fi in Lymm

Posted by Neil on Saturday, 13 February 2010, at 11:55

Free internet access points in Lymm

Lymm.com is currently putting together a map of local Wi-Fi hotspots. This will be of benefit to the whole community - very handy when you're out and about in the village and you need to check the web for some reason!

Spread Eagle now has free Wi-Fi

First off on our list is the Spread Eagle in the village centre. The new landlord (Barry) announced free Wi-Fi recently - to connect simply call in for the details.

The Venue now has free Wi-Fi

The Venue bar on Rectory Lane also has free internet access - once again, to connect simply call in for details.

Do you know of any Wi-Fi hotspots?

To help us produce our map, please let us know of any other hotspots in and around the village. We'll be publishing a definitive list in the coming days.

Here is a link to a Map of Wi Fi hotspots we have produced as promised.

Use the comments below or contact us.
