Real Radio’s Renegade Guy causes chaos in Lymm!. Are you the Real Radio Renegade?
Wednesday 28th April 2010
The North West’s most wanted man was in Lymm on Wednesday evening, ready to be hunted down in the effort for someone to win a share of £100, 000!
If you’re new to the term Real Radio Renegade, it’s simply a man from Real Radio who visits various locations throughout the North West in a bid to be tracked down by members of the public and asked “Are you the Real Radio Renegade?” If you’re successful in finding him and asking him these exact words then you could win a share of £100, 000.
“He’s stood outside the pub!”
On Wednesday evening, Lymm village centre was a mass of disorder, madness and confusion as people were racing around like crazy in the attempt to track down the Real Radio Renegade who had been discovered to be in Lymm. However, safe at home, away from all the commotion, Matthew Chambers (Lymm.com) simply logged on to Lymm TV in the effort to seek out the Real Radio Renegade via our webcams located around the village. Jackpot! He was standing right outside the Spread Eagle! So Matt phoned up Real Radio and they put him live on air to tell all the stations listeners about his sighting of the Real Radio Renegade through Lymm.com’s webcams!
Lymm.com’s webcams now on Real Radio’s website
Amongst the excitement, members of the Real Radio team logged on to the site to view the Real Radio Renegade via the webcams themselves. With the whole of Lymm village at absolute mayhem it was highly amusing to watch everyone scurrying around the screen in search of their Renegade Guy, so they captured some images of the chaos and posted them on the Real Radio website. View the photographs of Lymm village during the Real Radio Renegade madness.
Want to be part of the Real Radio Renegade excitement? To help you find him, you need to be listening to Real Radio as each weekday they give a clue as to his whereabouts and reveal how much the bounty is on his head. The bounty periods are between 8-10am, 12-2pm and 4-6pm every weekday so stay alert because another destination is just around the corner!

Sporting and Family event for Mencap Charity
The Voice of Learning Disability Sunday 2nd May 2010
Due to the success of the Cheshire event last year, the Lymm Triathlon is back providing a great early season challenge for novices and stars alike. This year, we gladly welcome our nominated charity of MENCAP, which will be involved in the fund raising of the race and be raising awareness of their worthwhile cause.
The Race....
The event which will be hosted at Lymm Leisure Centre consists of two Triathlons, a Sprint version and a Standard version. The Sprint comprises of a 500m swim, a 19km cycle and finishes with a 6km run. Whilst the Standard triathlon involves a 1km swim, a 35km cycle and finishes off with a 9km run.
Beginning with a competitive splash in the pool, athletes will then battle it out on a fast, undulating bike course, before completing the final home straight on a deceptively tough, mixed terrain run back to the leisure centre. The event is open to both individual competitors and 3-person relay teams in the Standard Race.
An exhilarating day for everyone to enjoy
With an exciting race commentary blaring out, sports massage on track side and various refreshments and snacks available, it’s a lively day to be enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike. Add in enthusiastic event crew and some fab prize give a ways for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd females/males in both Standard and Sprint races, and prizes for female and male ‘Local Heroes’. What’s more, with the mini athletics activities, children’s competitions, a climbing wall and ‘Sports Day’ type races you’ll soon see what all the fuss is about!
A superb event not to be missed, so get down there and show the competitors some support and encouragement!
Sunday 2nd May, 7:30am till 1pm, Lymm Leisure Centre.

Great News for Lymm
Following on from our article on the May Queen Meeting, you will all be pleased to know that Lymm May Queen Festival will be going ahead this year.
Last week, May Queen committee chairman Sean Kerfoot had announced that this year's festival had been cancelled. The main issue was that organisers feared they could be held personally liable in relation to heavy vehicles passing through on to the May Queen field and potentially damaging the water mains beneath. Cost of the damage could be as much as £250,000, he claimed.
Sean Kerfoot quoted: “As Chair of this event I would like to think we will have a May Queen this year but there would have to be conditions regarding access to the May Queen field and written confirmation that no member of the organising committee would be held financially responsible for any damage to the driveway”.
The Emergency Meeting
At the emergency meeting members of the council agreed to underwrite the event using public funds provided conditions are met to avoid members of the organising committee being held personally responsible for any damage that might occur.
One of the conditions was that a bond of £1,000 will also be required from the fairground operators, which will be used, in addition to any profits from the event, as a security if any damage to pipe work occurs. Any further costs will be covered by Lymm Parish Council. This agreement is for the 2010 event only.
A big challenge to organise the event, select a May Queen, Rose Queen and other characters lies before the May Queen Committee.
