Owner of Stolen Dog Offers Reward

Posted by Matthew on Tuesday, 23 February 2010, at 17:13

An appeal for information

On Wednesday 22nd of July 2009 a Yorkshire terrier was stolen from a Red Suzuki Vitara. The owner parked in Davies Way in Lymm and headed into Gavin Laidlaw's dental practice at 2.00pm. At 2.20pm Von Threlfall returned to find her car had been broken into and her Yorkshire Terrier, who is 10lbs and answers to the name Daz or Dazzie, gone.

Planned robbery?

The thieves took the lock off the passenger door. They left behind her other dog a Staffordshire bull terrier and all other valuables such as the satellite navigation system. On the front of the windscreen a calling card was left. The illustration was the front page of the Beano with Dennis the Menace on it behind bars with two dogs on the front. This suggests that the incident may have been planned.

Missing Yorkshire Terrier

Von says: “I remember on the day of the incident three guys laughing and joking on one of the canal boats. They looked over and smiled, that could be one route to his disappearance”.

On the day of the disappearance another passerby reported seeing a dark black or dark blue Vauxhall Zafira. The owner was agitated and unable to get out because of Von’s Jeep. This vehicle may be connected to the incident.

A small white van possible a renault kango with two middle aged blokes in high visibility jackets may also have possible links to the crime

Von is determined to find her dog and has circulated leaflets in the area, been to the Cheshire Dogs home, Manchester Dogs home, and also posted appeals on the internet. She will be circulating leaflets in the area again very shortly.

Reward

The owner would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything on the day of the incident or who may have had animals stolen. There is a £200 reward for any information leading to his safe return or his whereabouts. Von says she won’t give up.

Contact Von on: 01925 454298 or 07730 660 975.

Lymm and District Round Table Duck Race 2010

Posted by Matthew on Saturday, 20 February 2010, at 17:49

On Easter Monday (5th April)

Lymm Duck Race The Lymm Duck Race is one of Lymm’s annual events and attracts hundreds of locals and visitors to the village. After another fantastic success last year, the Duck Race is going ahead, as per tradition, on Easter Monday (5th April).

Last year’s event raised over £4000 for local charities and community projects including: Cotebrook house, Riding for the Disabled, Steps (a local charity who work with children with limb disorders) and the revitalised Lymm Youth Club.

The organisers and format

The Lymm Duck race is organised and run by the Lymm and District Round Table, who, as well as local charities and community projects, have also supported the Haiti appeal this year.

The format will follow last year’s successful programme (why ruin a good plan?). The village is closed to traffic to allow room for children's rides and local food outlets such as the Crazy Catering Company's Hog Roast and Moo Cow coffee van, plus the usual visiting traders.

The road closure makes the village centre a safer place for kids and also lends a little to the carnival atmosphere.

Lymm Duck Race

The ducks themselves are already in training and will be launched upstream from the village and will then storm to a photo finish at the village duck pond... honest.

This year it’s hoped that local charities and organisations will come along and help run some stalls. Possible suggestions include: Hook a Duck, Balloon Races, Easter Bonnet Competitions, etc. Please contact us if you are interested.

Tickets

Duck tickets will be on sale at The Cross on the three Saturday mornings prior to the event and on the day itself. Try and get your duck early as last year’s queues on the day were very long.

We are selling the £1 ducks as usual but there are also corporate and super sponsorship ducks. If you have a local business, want to support a worthwhile event and gain some publicity then get in touch.

Should you require any further information, wish to sponsor us by way of a super duck or if you are a local charity that wishes to have a stall, Duck-ish or Easter-ish event then please contact us via our website.

This information was kindly provided by Lymm Round Table.
